Hospital Management and Biomedical Waste

Biomedical waste can be defined as any kind of waste which contains infectious materials. It generally includes waste associated with biomedical waste that visually appears to be of medical or laboratory origin such as packaging, unused bandages, infusion kits or may be research laboratory waste containing biomolecules or chemical waste. However biomedical waste can be properly managed and disposed of to protect the environment, general public and workers especially healthcare and sanitation workers who are at risk of exposure to biomedical waste as an occupational hazard. A major step to reduce biomedical waste is to transport, disposal, accumulation, handling, storage and treatment
