Mental Health and Mental Disorders

Mental health refers to a person’s emotional, psychological, and social well-being, impacting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Good mental health enables individuals to manage stress, relate well to others, make decisions, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Mental health is dynamic, influenced by life experiences, biological factors, family history, and environmental conditions.

Mental disorders, or mental health conditions, encompass a range of issues affecting mental health, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. These conditions vary in severity, affecting individuals’ ability to function daily, form relationships, and maintain work or school responsibilities. Symptoms may include mood changes, emotional distress, unusual thought patterns, and difficulty with focus and motivation.
